During an assessment under our new approach
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 4 August 2026.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. There were some areas of governance and oversight that required strengthening.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
BUPA Dental Care Morpeth is part of BUPA Dental Care a dental group provider. The practice is in Morpeth and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice is located on the first floor of shared building, accessed via stairs from the ground floor. For this reason, it is not accessible to those with reduced mobility and wheelchair users. The practice can refer patients to a sister practice nearby that is fully accessible.
The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 17 staff, of which there were 4 dentists, 5 dental nurses, 2 dental hygienists, 3 receptionists, a practice co-ordinator and the practice manager. The practice also had 1 visiting dentist who delivered sedation treatment. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 2 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, a receptionist and the practice manager. The area quality improvement lead was also at the practice to support the team on the inspection day.
