One relative said, “They have learned to read my loved one’s body language and facial expressions and respond appropriately.’’ They also describe staff as “responsive, reliable, and approachable from the outset,’’ adding “they had shown genuine care by visiting my loved one in hospital and sending flowers”.
The same relative also told us, “My loved one will not eat for someone who [they] do not feel comfortable with, and eats well for all members of the team, which I feel is a strong indicator of trust. I also often see my loved one reaching out to hold their (staff) hands, which is lovely and reassuring.’’ Another relative said, "I am very pleased with Oasis Healthcare Solutions and the care my loved one receives. They take our loved one out into the community.’’ A further relative told us, “I feel that my loved one it’s treated very well.’’ The feedback showed staff understood people’s needs and provided personalised care that promoted trust, choice and wellbeing.
Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
People were supported to remain as independent as possible, make their own choices, and stay in control of their care. They were involved in decisions about their support, and when appropriate, relatives and healthcare professionals were included, with their views listened to and respected.
One relative told us, “Our loved one’s physical disability is very limiting, so independence can be challenging. However, the care team support this as much as possible by offering choices, such as meals and clothing. They have also learned to use switch technology, enabling our loved one to be involved in tasks like food preparation.” The relative added, “Oasis Healthcare Solutions has made a consistent effort to ensure there is always a driver on day shifts, allowing our loved one to attend social activities and appointments, which is very important for quality of life.’’The feedback showed staff promoted people’s independence, respected their choices and supported to remain involved in everyday life.
