Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

Kindness, compassion and dignity

People were treated with kindness, empathy and compassion and their privacy and dignity were respected.People and their relatives were positive about the kind and compassionate attitudes from the staff and managers. Comments from relatives were positive about the care their loved one received. People’s relatives commented on how staff were caring towards them too. Staff demonstrated a genuine empathy for the people they cared for and knew how people wanted to be treated. Staff told us spot checks were completed to ensure people were treated with kindness, compassion and dignity.

Treating people as individuals

Staff and managers treated people as individuals and made sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. Staff had access to information about people’s culture and background before they started working with them.They took account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds. Relatives told us the staff were able to communicate with people who could not speak English. People’s cultural and religious needs were planned for and met. The registered manager told us they supported someone who had requested a staff member who could cook Indian food, so this was provided. Staff told us that they supported people from a diverse community. People were supported to attend places of worship when they wanted. Staff organised celebrations for religious, cultural and special occasions. People told us they were treated as individuals and received support how they wanted.

Independence, choice and control

Staff and managers promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Care plans described what people could do and how they liked to be supported. People and their relatives had positive experiences since they started with Easy Healthcare (Yorkshire) Limited. One relative said, “The service has been great for both [relative] and me. It has given me a chance to just be a daughter again.”Easy Healthcare (Yorkshire) Limited ensured people were supported to maintain their independence as much as they could. One person said, “Staff encourage me to do what I can for myself, but safely."

Responding to people’s immediate needs

The provider listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. Staff responded to people’s needs and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress. People received care from the same pool of staff which supported continuity and getting to know people better. Relatives told us they monitored people closely and took prompt action when people became ill or when they noticed something was wrong. Staff also felt it was beneficial to work with the same people as they got to know them well and knew if they were presenting with any changes.

Workforce wellbeing and enablement

The provider ensured staff were well supported. Staff told us they enjoyed working at Easy Healthcare (Yorkshire) Limited and felt there was good support. Staff said they were well supported by the provider and told us their wellbeing was taken seriously.The registered manager shared examples of how were made to feel valued, this included rewards, meals out, or celebrating key events. Staff took part in regular individual supervision meetings to discuss their work and development needs. There were also regular team meetings which staff told us they found useful and a good way to share ideas.
