During an assessment under our new approach

Date of assessment: 11 June to 18 June 2026.
The Grange is a 'care home' providing accommodation and personal care for up to 19 people. People in care homes receive accommodation and personal care under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. At the time of the inspection, 14 people were living at the service.
This unannounced inspection was completed to follow up on the last inspection completed in February 2026, when the service was rated requires Improvement and found to be in breach of legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment, premises and equipment, good governance, and fit and proper persons employed.
At this inspection, we found that improvements had been made since February 2026 to address the concerns identified at the previous inspection. The provider was no longer in breach of these regulations and evidence indicated that the improvements had been sustained over time and were being actively maintained through the service's governance and oversight processes.
Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way which was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff received the correct training and supervision to support people safely.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
The registered manager had good oversight of the service, they had encouraged a culture of learning and development. There were systems in place to monitor and review care and people’s experience at the service.

During an assessment under our new approach

Date of assessment: 23 February 2026 to 26 February 2026.

The Grange is a 'care home' providing accommodation and personal care to up to 19 people. People in care homes receive accommodation and personal care under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises, and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. At the time of the inspection, 14 people were living at the service.

This is the first assessment of the service under a new provider. We carried out a comprehensive assessment. This assessment was unannounced.

We found breaches of regulations in relation to, safe care and treatment, premises and equipment, good governance and fit and proper persons employed. Suitable arrangements were not in place to ensure all staff employed were safely recruited. The registered manager’s governance arrangements did not always provide assurance the service was well led. Quality assurance systems were not robust and had not identified the shortfalls we found during our inspection.

In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
