Updated 29 January 2026
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 18 May 2026.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation; however, this was not consistently followed during recruitment.
Most staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Improvements were required to prescribing and dispensing to ensure it remained in line with guidance.
There was visible leadership and a culture of continuous improvement was encouraged.
Altmore Dental Practice is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 13 staff, of which there were 3 dentists- one of whom had special interest in periodontics, 1 specialist orthodontist, 1 qualified dental nurse, 2 trainee dental nurses, 2 dental therapists and 2 receptionists. Two visiting staff members carried out practice management responsibilities, including oversight of compliance and human resources processes. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including the orthodontist, 2 trainee dental nurses, 2 dental therapists, 2 receptionists and the visiting compliance staff.
The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.
