During an assessment under our new approach
Sinnott Medical Centre is a GP practice located in Walthamstow, East London, serving approximately 7,000 patients under a contract with NHS England. According to data from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, the practice is situated in an area with a deprivation score of 2 out of 10 (where 1 indicates the most deprived and 10 the least deprived).
This was the first assessment of the provider since they registered under a new name and location in June 2022. We reviewed 33 quality statements across the five key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. The assessment included a site visit conducted on 4 September 2025.
The service demonstrated efforts to ensure patients could access timely care and treatment. However, data from the GP Patient Survey indicated a negative trend in patient experience. Leaders showed awareness of the local population’s needs and the challenges facing the service. Staff well-being was strongly promoted, and team members reported enjoying their roles and feeling well supported.
The service has been rated requires improvement overall, as well as in the key questions safe and well-led. This rating reflects concerns that care and treatment were not consistently delivered in line with evidence-based guidelines, and the gaps in staff training we identified during the site visit. The provider has been issued with an action plan and is required to inform us of the steps taken to address these areas for improvement.
