People’s care plans contained information about involvement with other professionals and staff worked in partnership with others to help ensure people received personalised care and support.

People told us they had opportunities to discuss their care and treatment and had access to other services when they needed them. A person told us, “I am waiting to see the optician and hearing people they have booked me in.” A relative said, “The Manager has a regular meeting with residents and families. It’s a helpful forum to raise concerns.”

Staff we spoke with understood their role in ensuring people's equality and diversity needs were met. Peoples religions and beliefs were equally respected. One staff member told us, "We have a regular church service, however for other religions I ask people if they have a certain faith leader they would like to come in." Staff spoke of people with genuine regard and were clearly knowledgeable about people’s differing preferences.

Planning for the future

Care plans demonstrated personal wishes were documented. Where appropriate, Do Not Attempt Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) orders were identified clearly in care plans. The service worked in partnership with other professionals and the local hospice to ensure people received good end of life care. PEACE documents were in the process of being updated. PEACE is an anticipatory end of life care plan used for those with dementia who no longer have the capacity to make end of life decisions for themselves.
