Updated 13 March 2025
Date of assessment 24 June 2025 to 26 June 2025. This assessment was completed to identify if the required improvements had been made following a previous inspection in November 2024.
Since our last assessment, the provider had not taken the necessary action to make improvements to the safety of the people living in the home, to ensure the principles of The Mental Capacity Act 2005 were applied, to ensure people were protected from potential abuse and to the governance systems. The provider had not notified us of all events that had happened within the service in line with their legal requirements to do so. We found 5 breaches of the legal regulations.
People did not always receive safe care. Care plans were not always in place, up to date or reviewed. The environment and infection prevention risks were not always managed in a safe way. There was a lack of learning within the home, and safeguarding procedures were not always followed. We also found medicines were not always stored safely.
People’s care was not always responsive to their needs or delivered in a person-centred way. People’s health needs were not always fully considered or responded to as advice from professionals was not always followed.
The principles of The Mental Capacity Act 2005 were not always followed. Dignity and independence were not always fully considered.
The systems in place to monitor and improve the home were not effective. The home was not well managed, and this was reflected in the home’s culture.
There were enough staff available and they were safely recruited, however they did not always have the appropriate level of competency to support people.
People had access to GP’s and felt the home was responsive when they were unwell. Assessments had not always been completed to identify people’s individual needs. People’s communication was considered and information provided to them in a format they could understand.
In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/ or appeals have been concluded.
This service is being placed in special measures. The purpose of special measures is to ensure that services providing inadequate care make significant improvements. Special measures provide a framework within which we user our enforcement powers in response to inadequate care and provide a timeframe within which providers must improve the quality of the care they provide.
