Our view of the service
This assessment was carried out between 19 May 2026 and 2 June 2026. We visited the office on 19 May 2026.
The service provides personal care to people in their own homes. At the time of the assessment the service was supporting 22 people.
People received their care from small groups of staff who knew them well. This enabled staff to provide person-centred care and support.
The provider carried out assessments before a person began to use the service. These assessments included people’s likes and dislikes to enable staff to be matched to people.
Care plans were personalised to make sure staff had up to date information about the needs of the people they supported. Risk assessments had been carried out to make sure people received care with minimum risk to themselves and staff. Some risk assessments had not been dated when they were reviewed which made it difficult to see if they contained the most up to date information about risk. This was being addressed by the registered manager.
Staff were safely recruited and received the appropriate training to carry out their role. This included training from other healthcare professionals in the use of specific equipment.
Staff had received training in how to recognise and report any signs of abuse. Staff told us they would be comfortable to raise any issues with the registered manager or senior member of staff. All were confident any concerns raised would be fully investigated and action would be taken to protect people.
The provider was committed to making sure people received high quality care from the service. Spot checks were carried out to monitor the quality of the care provided. There were satisfaction surveys which enabled people to share feedback. The registered manager also analysed all accidents, incidents, compliments and concerns to understand where improvements could be made. Learning was shared with staff to ensure ongoing learning and improvements.
Some improvements were needed to make sure records clearly reflected the support people received but this was being addressed by the registered manager.
People's experience of this service
People were very positive about the care they received. All said they would recommend the agency to others. One person told us, “I have only good things to say about them. The carers do exactly what I want. They turn up on time and are very attentive. They stay for the time agreed and never leave without talking to me first. They do what they have to and are never intrusive.”
One relative said, “I am definitely satisfied with the care provided by GH. The carers come at a regular time and are caring as well as polite.”
People felt safe with the staff who supported them. One person told us, “They make me feel safe and comfortable.”
People praised the staff and all said they were always kind and caring. People said they felt staff were respectful and made sure they were always treated with dignity.
People all received information each week about who would be visiting and at what time. People told us they were always contacted if their staff were running late due to unforeseen circumstances.
Staff helped people to remain independent in their own homes. People were able to maintain their preferred routines and staff involved people in all decisions about their care and support.
