The service is a supported living service. Supported living refers to schemes that provide personal care to people in their own shared home. The service is able to support up to 3 people, living with mental health needs. One person received support with personal care. CQC does not regulate premises used for Supported Living. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. This is the first inspection of the service. The provider of the service was also the registered manager. We have referred to them throughout the report as the provider.
People were protected from the risk of abuse, harm or discrimination. People were at the forefront of planning and developing their own care. Staff knew people well and understood the support required. There were enough staff who had been safely recruited to support people. People were supported to maintain good health. Staff ensured they received support from appropriate health and social care professionals when they needed it.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing.
There was a positive culture at the service. The provider and staff were committed to improving and developing the service for the benefit of the people who lived there.
We found improvements were needed in some aspects of the service. This included record keeping, aspects of medicine management and practical staff training to help develop the service.
