Date of inspection: 8 to 12 December 2025. Kenilworth Manor is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 34 people. At the time of our inspection there were 26 people living in the home.
As part of our inspection, we spoke with people who lived in the home, their relatives, staff, the registered manager and the operations manager. We sought feedback from healthcare professionals, reviewed care plans, medication records, recruitment files and quality assurance records.
There was a positive culture in the home. Staff felt supported and valued by the registered manager and the registered manager felt supported by the provider and their representatives.
Staff received training to enable them to carry out their work safely. Staff understood their role in safeguarding people from the risk of abuse and felt confident to raise concerns to the registered manager.
Medicines were managed safely by trained staff who received regular competency checks.
The environment was tidy, clean and well maintained.
People’s needs were assessed prior to moving to the home and risks of harm were identified, managed and reviewed when needed. People’s care records were accurate and provided clear guidance and information to staff, on the care people wanted and required.
Staff were observed to be kind and considerate. This was confirmed through feedback from people and their relatives. Staff knew people well and adjusted their approach accordingly. People were given choice and were encouraged to be as independent as possible.
Staff spoke positively about the leadership and management in the home. They told us that communication was good, and that there was a strong sense of teamwork across all departments. The registered manager monitored the needs of people living in the home and ensured there was the right number of staff on each shift to support people in a timely way.
Audit systems were in place to review the care people received and check that internal processes were effective. However, we observed the Provider’s oversight had not identified when, in the unexpected absence of the manager, these audits had not been completed. The provider gave us assurances they were streamlining and improving their processes, and we found that people had continued to receive safe care by leaders in the home.
We received positive feedback from a health and social care professional, about how the service worked in partnership with them.
