Our view of the service

Date of Inspection 13 August 2025. Wright Home Care is a residential care home that can provide support for up to 4 people. There were 3 people living at the home at the time of the inspection. The service provides support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We inspected this service due to concerns we had following an incident at the service. We did not find any provider failure regarding this incident.

We have assessed the service against the ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance. This enabled us to make judgments about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People were treated with kindness and respect. Care and support were person-centered and tailored to meet people’s individual needs. Staff respected people’s privacy and dignity and supported people to feel safe. People were supported to maintain good health. Support plans were regularly reviewed to ensure support remained effective and responsive to any changes in people’s health.

People were supported in the least restrictive way, in line with legal requirements and in people’s best interests. Safeguarding systems were in place to protect people from the risk of harm or abuse. Staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities and acted appropriately when concerns were raised.

Medicines were managed safely. People received their medicines as prescribed, with regular checks in place to ensure correct storage, administration, and documentation. There were enough safely recruited and suitably skilled staff to meet people’s needs. Infection prevention and control measures were implemented effectively.

Staff worked in partnership with health and social care professionals to help people achieve positive outcomes. Staff had a clear understanding of people’s rights and how to uphold them in their daily duties. Staff felt supported and valued by the provider and received access to regular supervision and training.

There was an open and inclusive culture where staff felt confident to raise concerns. These were acted upon in a timely and appropriate manner. The provider promoted a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Governance systems were effective when monitoring the care and support people received. Audits and checks were regularly carried out by the provider who was also the registered manager. Any concerns identified were acted on promptly. Staff confirmed the registered manager worked with them and was knowledgeable and skilled in their role.

People's experience of this service

People were supported by the staff team to keep safe and spend time doing things they enjoyed. Relatives told us people were happy and safe living in the home.

The culture of the service was an open, friendly, and welcoming. Relatives were supported to maintain ongoing relationships and stay involved in their family member’s care.

Relatives confirmed they could raise any concerns openly with the provider and we observed easy read information around the home to support people’s understanding. Easy read documents use simple language, short sentences, and visual aids like pictures to convey information clearly.

Some people using the service were unable to communicate their experiences directly. Throughout the day we saw people spending time in activities that were meaningful to them, this included spending time in the local community doing things they enjoyed. Staff consistently interacted with people in a positive and respectful way. Where people could communicate, they told us they were happy living in the home, and that they liked the staff supporting them. Relatives told us people’s independence skills were promoted and staff supported people to follow their interests and hobbies. Relatives told us the registered manager was approachable and supportive and kept them informed when any changes occurred in their family member’s health and well being.
