Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 17 February 2026.
St Anthony's Residential Home Limited provides personal care and support for up to 16 older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of the assessment 12 people were using the service. The assessment was completed to check improvements had been made following our previous assessment.
The provider was previously in breach of the regulations in relation to the need for consent, safe care and treatment, safeguarding, good governance, and the requirement to make notifications. A warning notice was issued in relation to the governance failings following the previous assessment.
Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulations.
The service was now led by an effective acting manager who had made improvements in the service and was complimented by the staff team. Staff told us they were well supported and were confident any safety issues they raised would be addressed.
People received their medicines as prescribed. However, improvements were needed to ensure the security of medicines when not in use.
Necessary environmental safety checks had been completed and improvements made to the environment of the service since the last assessment. Following feedback additional improvement works were planned to improve the quality of floor in the service laundry.
The service had effective assessment processes and people’s care plans accurately reflected their current support needs.
The provider and acting manager now had a better understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and all necessary Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards applications had been made. No incidents of unauthorised restrictions to people’s freedoms were identified during this assessment.
The service had acted to ensure people were protected from abuse and staff disciplinary processes were now effective.
The acting manager was leading the staff team effectively and additional governance processes had been introduced to monitor performance and identify possible areas for improvement. Some necessary notifications had been submitted and following feedback the acting manager submitted additional notifications when required.
