Our view of the service

Hamptons Hospital is an independent hospital located in Cambridgeshire. Hamptons Hospital introduced day case surgical procedures in April 2025, expanding services offered at the location, which already included GP services outpatient clinics and a range of diagnostic services, including MRI. This was the first time we inspected the hospital. We did not inspect GP services as part of this inspection.

The clinic had no overnight beds. Facilities included a theatre, a recovery room,

Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity and took account of their individual needs and choices. Staff were alert and responsive to people’s needs and provided emotional support to patients to avoid any preventable discomfort, concern or distress.

The service planned care and treatment to meet the needs of local people, took account of people’s individual needs and future care plans, and made it easy for people to give feedback about their experiences.

Leaders were focused on good outcomes for patients. Staff provided compassionate care where privacy and dignity were maintained. Staff communicated well with patients and those close to them and put them at ease through their stay.

However

Audit processes withing the governance framework were not consistently embedded. Some polices had not been kept up to date. Staff reported challenges in procuring equipment, which resulted in some procedures being cancelled at short notice.
