Our view of the service

The outpatient department comprises of 8 consultation rooms covering a range of specialities. It is open from 8am to 6pm except Sundays and has a GP clinic that runs for 3 evenings over the week.

The hospital’s core service is surgery. Where outpatient arrangements mirrored those in surgery, findings have been reported in the surgery section.

This assessment was undertaken because this is the first assessment of the service since it registered in March 2023.

The on-site assessment was unannounced and took place on 3 December 2025. We assessed 33 quality statements across the key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led to determine the rating.

During the assessment, we spoke with staff, leaders and service users. We reviewed care records, policies, and other documentation relevant to the service.

We have rated the service as good.

The outpatient service was found to provide compassionate and person-centred care. Safe staffing levels were consistently maintained due to the workforce’s flexibility and responsiveness. Clinical teams demonstrated effective teamwork across all areas. Staff worked collaboratively to support continuity of care. There was also strong leadership within the outpatient service.

Medicines optimisation was safe and infection prevention and control practice was effective.
