At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People’s independence was promoted, and this was reflected in people’s care records. People and relatives gave positive feedback. Comments included, “They get more picture books to look at because [Name] likes those” and “[Name] likes the TV and chooses her own room; I mean which one she wants to sit in”. Staff told us how they support people to have choice. Comments included, “I try to enable them to take part and remain as independent as possible”, “I ask them personally what they want to do” and “Once you get to know them and their care plans, their likes and dislikes I can support them to make informed choices and we can discuss stuff they used to do and their families will tell us too”.
