At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

One person told us they were supported by staff to have choice and control in their life. We saw and staff were able to tell us how another person was being supported to be more involved in every aspect of their daily care. They were more involved with daily living tasks, including looking after their own room and doing cleaning and laundry tasks.

Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s social needs. People were supported to maintain and develop their relationships with those close to them, their social networks and community. People were supported to have access to their family, friends and community.

People and relatives confirmed they had as much choice and control as possible in their lives. A relative told us, “This is the best service (person’s name) has lived at. The staff are incredible, caring and kind.”
