Royal Windsor Care Home is a residential care service providing support for up to 68 people. The service supports adults aged 65 and over, as well as adults under 65, including those living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
People’s needs were assessed and monitored, with care delivered in line with current good practice. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s health conditions and worked effectively with external professionals to ensure care remained appropriate.
The environment was clean, well maintained and supported by effective infection prevention and control practices.
Staff responded promptly to risks and incidents, with learning from events used to improve practice. Systems were in place to manage risks, and people were involved in decisions about their care, including how risks were managed.
Care was coordinated effectively, supported by good communication within the staff team and with external professionals, ensuring continuity as people’s needs changed.
People and their relatives were kept informed and involved in care planning and decision-making.
Leadership arrangements were effective, providing clear oversight of the service. Audits and monitoring processes were used to identify issues, drive improvement and ensure actions were followed through. There was an open culture where staff were able to raise issues and contribute to improvements, and leaders demonstrated a commitment to ongoing development.
