Date of Assessment: 3 September 2026. Oban House Residential Care Home provides accommodation with personal care for older people, some who were living with dementia and complex health needs. This assessment was carried due to information of concern we received. However, these concerns were unfounded and people received person centred care that met their needs and supported their wellbeing.
There was a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs. There were enough staff with the right skills and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular support to maintain high-quality care. People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living. Staff involved those important to people in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity to make specific decisions.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely way. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. The provider worked with the local community and there was a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff felt valued, listened to and involved in decision making. The registered manager and management team supported staff wellbeing, development and progression and positive morale contributed to a supportive environment for people and staff.
