Well-led
Well-led – this means we looked for evidence that service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture. At our last assessment we rated this key question as good. At this assessment the rating has remained as good. This meant the service was consistently managed and well-led. Leaders and the culture they created promoted high-quality, person-centred care.

The provider had a clear shared vision and strategy, and the home was well supported by the registered manager and wider quality team. There was a robust programme of audits and checks and evidence that any shortfalls were addressed promptly. The provider's quality team audited the service twice a year and shared their findings for the service to improve.

Governance, management and sustainability
There was a strong sense of teamwork and staff expressed that they felt supported and listened to. Comments included, “We talk about people’s needs, if people’s needs change look for solutions on how to support people better.” “Well supported by the registered manager. I feel we are listened to in the team meetings.” “This is a nice place to work. I get good support from the registered manager who has an open-door policy, and the registered manager and the team leader are easy to speak with.”

Learning, improvement and innovation
Management worked with people, their relatives and staff to build a culture that focused on enabling people to live a full life. Feedback, together with learning from incidents, audits and quality assurance checks, was used to drive improvements in the safety and quality of the care provided. Feedback from the service's annual resident and family survey was collated and reviewed, with actions identified to drive improvements for the year ahead.
