Person-centred Care

Score: 3

People received person-centred care from staff who knew them well and understood their individual needs and preferences. People, and those involved in their care, were actively involved in assessments and regular reviews to ensure care plans reflected their wishes and how they wanted their support to be provided. A relative said, “My [person], is a long-term resident of Springfield. I am so happy that they live in the care home because I know they will be well looked after. [Person] accommodation is well-adapted to their needs.”

People were given opportunities to express their views through discussions, reviews and other feedback processes.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

The management team and staff demonstrated a strong commitment to person-centred support and care and improving outcomes and opportunities for people. People were supported to choose how they spent their time and had wide ranging opportunities, including individual and group activities such as attending day centres, church, nearby care homes and local cafes. These were driven by people’s preferences and wishes.

Care plans highlighted people’s diverse needs, preferences and aspirations. A staff member told us, “I had training on equality and diversity. A person likes to go to the Pride celebrations, so staff support them to attend. I would be happy to support people regardless of their diverse needs.” The registered manager regularly reviewed people’s care and support to ensure people continued to achieve positive and consistent outcomes.
