Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this. The registered manager was aware of the inequalities people with a learning disability and complex health needs could face and was passionate in ensuring they had equal access to services and were protected from discrimination. The registered manager was able to give good examples of how they had facilitated people accessing healthcare and advocated on their behalf to ensure they had equal access to treatment and services.
There was a culture at the service to challenge inequalities and seek solutions to the barriers people faced. Whether that was in accessing healthcare or achieving people’s personal goals and meeting their wellbeing needs. Staff had completed training on the Equality Act and understood people’s rights and how to advocate on their behalf.
