Date of Assessment: 08 May 2025. The service is a residential service providing support to adults of all ages living with dementia and / or with nursing needs.
Our assessment was prompted by concerns around managing behaviour which challenges. The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations around staffing and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulations.
The provider had a learning culture and people could raise concerns. The registered manager investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities were going through scheduled refurbishment and associated risks were mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training to maintain quality care. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes.
People were involved in the assessment of their needs. Staff reviewed people’s care taking account of their communication, personal and health needs. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff worked with agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving services. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living.
Staff treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends.
Staff responded to people in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing.
People were involved in decisions about their care. Staff provided information people could understand.
Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. There was a culture of improvement.
