Listening to and involving people
The service made it easy for people to share feedback and ideas or raise complaints about their care and support. Staff involved people in decisions about their care and told them what had changed as a result.
People and their relatives knew the managers well and felt their concerns were listened to. The service held regular meetings to give people and their relatives the opportunity to share their views and any concerns. There was a clear process to manage complaints.
People and their relatives reported overall satisfaction with how the service engaged with them. Their comments included, “Each issue that I raised was listened to and acted on” and “I raised concerns about [person’s] teeth; dealt with quickly.” However, some relatives felt the recent changes in management/staffing were not communicated clearly, which created confusion. The managers acknowledged the concerns and told us they were working to improve communication and provide reassurance where needed.
