Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 1 April 2025

Date of assessment 7 April to 02 June 2025. This service specialised in the care of people with a learning disability and autistic people and we have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found care was provided in line with this guidance. Not everyone who used the service received the regulated activity of personal care. CQC only inspected the care relating to the people who received personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating.

People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. Where risks were identified, these were mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. People’s medicines were managed safely. People were involved in assessments and regular reviews of their needs. Care plans and assessments took account of people’s communication, personal care and health needs. People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. The service provided information in a format people could understand. People were encouraged to maintain relationships with relatives and friends. Staff worked in partnership with other agencies to make sure people were encouraged to identify and achieve their goals. People received fair and equal care and treatment. Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were knowledgeable, supportive and visible. Staff understood their roles and felt able to give feedback. There was a culture of continuous learning and improvement to ensure people received good quality care.

People's experience of the service

Updated 1 April 2025

We made phone calls and spoke with 5 family members of people using the service, by using an Expert by Experience to get feedback. An Expert by Experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service. We also visited several properties, speaking to different people and observing interactions. People and those important to them spoke positively about the quality of care and support they received. Relatives told us they had confidence in the staff who supported their loved ones. People told us they felt safe and were well supported. They said staff were, “compassionate and caring” and they felt they were treated as individuals. The majority of people and relatives felt the staffing levels were appropriate to meet their needs. People told us they felt listened to and were comfortable with planning their care with staff. Relatives told us, where people were unable to verbally communicate their needs, other communication methods were utilised. Feedback confirmed staff proactively supported people to be as independent as possible, to meet their aims and ambitions. People and their relatives told us they had confidence that managers responded appropriately to accidents, incidents or safeguarding matters and nearly all confirmed they were kept informed and updated.
