Person-centred Care
We found care plans did not always have enough detail in them around some areas such as diabetes management, capacity and longer-term goals. It wasn’t always clear how often care plans were being reviewed and how people were involved in their care planning and reviews. However, feedback from a relative was positive and they told us that they had been asked for input with regards to their relative’s care plan and other aspects of their care needs. We saw evidence of care plan evaluations after the on-site visit.

We did not look at Care provision, Integration and continuity during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Responsive.

Listening to and involving people
The provider had processes in place for regular meetings with people and we saw evidence of this in meeting minutes. A yearly survey was being carried out with people at Grovelands Lodge, though we did identify there were some previous years missing. The provider did have relevant concerns and compliments policies and procedures in place that staff and people could access.

Equity in experiences and outcomes
The provider engaged with a range of different external health professionals to ensure people at Grovelands Lodge had access to the services they need. Staff were positive about supporting people to access the community. We saw evidence of one person’s weekly activities and their relative told us how much more settled their [relative] has been recently. One person told us how much they enjoyed swimming, and we saw evidence of staff supporting them to access the local pool.
