Kindness, compassion and dignity
People and their relatives were positive about the kindness and care shown to them by staff. A relative told us, “Staff are welcoming and friendly this is the most settled my [relative] has been.”
The provider always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.
We observed staff being attentive to people’s needs. One staff member told us, “We always treat people with the utmost dignity and respect and always take their personal views and beliefs into consideration.”
Treating people as individuals
Care plans and risk assessments were not always up to date and consistent. We identified that some areas of the care plan and risk assessments did not contain sufficient detail to that person’s needs. For example, for one person’s health issues care plan, the information was not consistent with regards to their capacity, therefore it was not clear if they lacked capacity or not to make decisions about their health care needs.
bserved staff supporting people with their daily living activities and staff we spoke with told us they felt they knew people well. Staff spoke positively about treating people as individuals and caring for people in line with their individual needs and wishes. One staff member told us, “Staff do their best to promote people’s independence.” We also observed that people’s personal spaces were personalised with things that were important to them such as photographs and soft furnishings.
