During an assessment under our new approach
Dates of assessment 16 February to 5 March 2026.
Foxleigh Grove Nursing Home provides support to older people, including those living with physical disabilities. At the time of assessment, 34 people were living in the service. This assessment was carried out because of the age of the rating, and the breaches of regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance in 2020. At this assessment, we found improvements had been made, and the provider was no longer in breach of regulation.
The provider was responsive to areas for improvement noted during the assessment but had not always recognised these areas themselves. For example, competency assessments were not always in place, and there were some gaps in recruitment records. The provider took immediate action to address these areas. Some people living at the home lived with dementia. However, we found there were some areas in which people with dementia could be supported better in line with the environment and adaptations. We shared a dementia environmental assessment tool with the provider.
There were enough staff available to keep people safe and to meet their needs in a timely way. Systems were in place to identify and reduce risks to people. People received their medicines as prescribed, from staff who had been trained in medicines management. People told us staff were kind and caring. Where people lacked capacity to make decisions for themselves, their care records showed decisions had been made in their best interests.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control over their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible. The policies and systems in the service support this practice.
The service worked closely with community health professionals to support people with their health needs. The provider had effective systems in place to deal with any complaints. The registered manager completed regular audits of the service to make sure action was taken and lessons were learned when things went wrong.
