Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 5 to 12 November 2025. Ventura is a care home registered to provide accommodation and personal care to adults with mental health support needs. The service provides care and support to up to 7 people. At the time of the assessment there were 5 people using the service. At our last inspection, published September 2023, the service was rated requires improvement. The provider was in breach of the legal regulation in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. We carried out this assessment to review actions taken by the provider following our last inspection. Some improvements were identified at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of the legal regulation relating to safe care and treatment. However, in relation to good governance, we did not identify sufficient improvement, and the provider remained in breach of this regulation. We assessed 18 quality statements in the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led key questions. The rating for the safe key question has changed to good. The ratings for the quality statements we did not assess remain unchanged. The overall rating for the service has changed to good. Improvements had been made since the last inspection in relation to people’s risk assessments, infection prevention and control and policies and procedures. However, further work was needed to ensure governance systems were consistently effective in areas such as water temperature monitoring, staff recruitment and incident records. People and their relatives spoke positively about their experience of the service. Individual risks were assessed, and people were supported to take positive risks. Staff knew people well and felt supported in their roles. There were enough staff available to meet people’s needs, and medicines were managed safely. The service maintained positive working relationships with other health and social care professionals. The provider responded positively to the shortfalls identified. We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of this service

We gathered feedback from 4 people who used the service and 2 relatives about their experience of the care provided. Some people could not directly tell us about their experiences, which meant we spent time observing interactions with staff. We used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI), a structured observation tool to help us understand their experience and assess whether they received good care. We observed a supportive environment, where people were treated with kindness and respect. People and their relatives spoke positively of their experience. A person said, “I like it here, love it in fact.” A relative said, “Excellent support, very person centred.” While most people and relatives expressed general satisfaction with their care they received, our assessment found some elements of care did not meet the expected standards.
