This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Person-centred Care
The provider ensured people were at the centre of their care and treatment decisions and worked in partnership with them to respond to any changes in their needs.
People and family members told us they were involved in care planning, which staff reviewed regularly to keep information current and accurate. One family member said, “The carers continually talk to Dad throughout the process of personal care, informing him at all times what they are going to do next.” Another relative told us, “Her comprehensive care plan is very detailed and is reviewed, and I am involved. It is an excellent service and we are very happy with the company.”
Conversations with staff showed they were committed to providing person‑centred care. Care plans were detailed and tailored to individuals’ needs. Staff knew people well and could clearly describe their preferences, including how they wished to receive their personal care.
Care provision, Integration and continuity
We did not look at Care provision, Integration and continuity during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Responsive.
Providing Information
The provider ensured people received appropriate, accurate and up‑to‑date information in formats tailored to their individual needs.
People’s care plans reflected their current physical, mental and emotional needs. Staff understood people’s communication needs because this information was clearly recorded in care plans, enabling them to support people to express themselves fully. People received information in formats that suited their communication preferences.
Listening to and involving people
We did not look at Listening to and involving people during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Responsive.
Equity in access
The provider ensured people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.
The provider had equality and diversity policies in place, and staff completed relevant training. This helped staff understand the potential barriers people might face when accessing care and how to support them to overcome these. As a result, people were able to access timely, appropriate care, promoting equality and protecting their rights.
Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders listened actively to people who were most likely to experience inequality in their care and tailored support and treatment to meet their individual needs.
Staff treated people equally and without discrimination. People and family members spoke positively about the care they received. One person said, “The company are very obliging and accommodating. They meet my needs and I would recommend them to others without hesitation.”
Planning for the future
The provider supported people to plan for important life changes so they had enough time and information to make decisions about their future, including at the end of their life.
When people required end‑of‑life care, staff delivered this in line with the person’s wishes. Advance care plans were put in place when needed, enabling staff to provide safe, person‑centred care that reflected people’s future needs. All staff received training in end‑of‑life care, and policies and procedures were in place to guide their practice. Staff explained how they worked closely with district nurses and the local hospice to ensure people received coordinated and compassionate support.
