We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 20 May 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of Smmmile on 10 February 2026. We had found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of regulation 17, Good governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met regulations.
Improvements had been made to the systems for identifying and managing risks. In particular, risks associated with fire, legionella, radiography and servicing of equipment. Further improvements should be made to risk assess the hazardous substances in use.
Improvements had been made to the governance system to ensure policies and procedures were up-to-date and reflective of the practice. An impact assessment should be carried out to assess the purpose, necessity, and risks from the use of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV).
The practice is in Newcastle upon Tyne and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and pay and display parking near the practice.
The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the inspection we spoke with 1 dentist, the practice manager and the central support manager.
