We found a clean, presentable and well-maintained home environment. A safeguarding policy was in place, which staff understood, and people were treated with kindness and understanding. Some staff had a good awareness of people’s needs, which they demonstrated in how they supported people. People and staff knew how to raise concerns and people told us they were happy with their care. People had Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), where these were required, and staff were Mental Capacity Act (MCA) trained and mostly sought the consent of people when providing them care.
We found accidents and incidents had not always been analysed for understanding and learning, staff had not always received relevant training relevant to people’s needs and care records did not always provide information which accurately reflected people’s needs and risks.
