Within 14 days of this condition taking effect, the Registered Provider must implement an effective monthly audit and monitoring system to ensure that:
a) Any decisions made for or on behalf of service users are appropriately documented and only made in line with their best interests.
b) Service users’ risk assessments fully reflect their individual health and care needs and any forensic history.
c) Robust fire safety arrangements are maintained, including training for all staff in emergency evacuation procedures.
d) The risk to service users associated with falls from windows is safely managed.
e) Any controlled drugs held on site are managed in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
f) Staff are provided with clear information and guidance on the expected use of service users’ ‘when required’ (PRN) medicines.
g) Any covert administration of service users’ medicines is safely and appropriately managed in line with legal requirements and best practice guidance.
h) Appropriate infection prevention and control standards are maintained, included good hand hygiene and food safety practices and consistent use of personal protective equipment.
i) Staff training needs are consistently assessed, reviewed and met, from induction onwards, ensuring these reflect their duties, responsibilities and service users’ current care needs.
j) Regular staff competency checks are conducted to ensure staff have the necessary skills, knowledge and training to provide safe and effective care.
k) Consistent and appropriate pre-employment checks are completed for all prospective staff.
