All Inspections

29 January 2014

During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with fifteen donors and three members of staff. All the feedback we received was positive. Staff told us this was a good place to work and that they enjoyed their job. People giving donations told us they were well cared for and felt the service generally ran well. Donor's comments included;' This place is well equipped with pleasant and accommodating staff' and' Everyone was really friendly and put me at ease.'

We found that people making a donation were well cared for, and that the systems in place ensured they gave their donations with the least possible risk to themselves. Systems were also in place to ensure patients receiving the donation were safe and getting the product best suited to their needs.

The donation centre was well maintained and visibly clean. We found some improvements were required to ensure effective infection control techniques were being used.

Staff told us they felt well supported by their peers, the management and the organisation. Donors told us they felt confident that staff were competent and experienced to collect their donation safely and to cause the least amount of discomfort.

Systems were in place to ensure the donation centre was operating safely and in line with best practice and published research. Donors had the opportunity to provide feedback about the service via local feedback forms, through the national customer service team or formally by raising a complaint.
