During a routine inspection

Everyone we spoke to said they were treated well and staff always treated them with respect. People who use the service described the staff as 'polite', 'friendly', 'kind', 'dedicated', 'caring'. One person said, 'The staff are here for us, nothing is too much trouble. When they help me into bed they make sure the curtains are closed and never rush me.'

People were very satisfied with the care and treatment they received. One person summed up the views of people and said, 'It's an excellent service. We can talk to a consultant, nurse, dietician, occupational therapist and physiotherapist. They're all under one roof. I never knew such a brilliant place existed.' Another person said, 'They see me as a whole person. They don't look at just one thing; they check everything and then follow up when I go home.'

People told us staff delivered the right care to meet their needs and they received consistent care. One person said, 'We get continuity and it's lovely. I've had a few stays and see the same faces, they must be very happy in their jobs.'

We spoke to people who were staying at the unit for the first time and others who had visited several times. People said the care and treatment was always discussed with them during their stay. Everyone said they had agreed objectives or goals for the period of time within the unit and were happy with the support they were receiving from everyone who worked at the unit.

All of the people we spoke to were very complimentary about the staff and all comments were positive. They said staff listened to what they had to say. Everyone we asked said staff had the right skills and knowledge to care for them well.

Staff said people were treated with respect and received good care. One member of staff said, 'Everyone gets the care they need. The care is brilliant.' Another member of staff said, 'We have enough time available to give quality care.' Staff did not raise any concerns about the care treatment and support given to people who use the service.

Everyone we spoke to said people receive a safe quality service. People who use the service said they were regularly asked if they were satisfied with the service. Staff said they had opportunities to talk about the service on a formal and informal basis. They also said internal and external inspections and checks are carried out, and audits are carried out by a range of staff and managers.
