Our view of the service

We carried out an inspection of The Princess Royal hospital on 4, 5 and 18 March 2026 as part of the Winter Pathway programme. The hospital provides a wide range of services, and this assessment focused on medical care and urgent and emergency care (UEC) services.

The hospital was rated requires improvement overall. This rating reflects the findings from this inspection and has been combined with ratings from previous inspections to provide an overall assessment of all services. The trust’s overall rating therefore remains Requires Improvement.
