During a routine inspection

People were supported in promoting their independence and community involvement and were supported to access a range of activities in their local community; such as going on outings to the theatre, for walks and attending day centres. We observed staff treated people with dignity and respect, for example staff asked people for consent before providing care.

We saw from care records people had specific care plans to promote their independence; such as making hot drinks, making their own lunch and travelling in cars and taxis. We also saw that care plans included information about people's personal preferences and choices.

Staff had completed safeguarding training and were aware of the various types of abuse. We saw the provider had systems in place to deal with any safeguarding concerns.

Staff told us they had opportunities for further development and to work towards further qualifications to help understand some of the specialist needs of people they supported. Staff also told us they were well supported by their manager and received regular supervision.

We saw staff held a six monthly review for each person and this was regularly attended by relatives and other professionals involved in people's care. We also saw the provider undertook a range of audits to improve the quality of the service provided.
