All Inspections

During a routine inspection

All three of the relatives we spoke with reported that staff were respectful. For example, one relative told us, "They get on well with the staff and other people who live in the home. It's a lovely place to be."

The relatives also told us that they had felt involved in decision making about their relative's care. They also told us how helpful they had found the circle of support meetings. For example, one relative told us, "I have been involved through circle meetings and family meetings. I am quite happy with what is happening." People's privacy, dignity and independence were respected. People's views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care.

From what we witnessed and were told, we found that people who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

9 November 2011

During a themed inspection looking at Learning Disability Services

One relative told us 'It is a good place for him to be and I am happy for him to stay there. The staff bring him to visit me every fortnight'. They had no concerns about his care and thought staff kept him safe.

Relatives were involved in care planning for people who used the service and this was confirmed when we spoke to relatives of two of the people who used the service.

We were told that the manager always dealt with any worries or concerns relatives had promptly and effectively.

6 January 2011

During a routine inspection

We found that people who use the service are able to express their views, so far as they are able to do so and their privacy and dignity is respected.

Families of people who use this service are involved in the decision making and a families meeting in November 2010 discussed activities and visits out for users of the service.

We found that people who use the service are encouraged and enabled to take an active part in their community and an example of activities outside the home in a typical week was provided in which all users of the service had opportunities to take part in activities and visits out in the community.
