Other CQC inspections of services

Community & mental health inspection reports for St John's Health Centre can be found at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

Inspection carried out on 30 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with a number of trust managers and health care managers and professionals working at and from the centre during the course of our visit. They included the trusts Community Manager and Head of Therapy. The Clinical Manager for District Nursing, Managers for Health Visiting and School Nursing, Manager and specialist staff for Crisis Intervention/Support and Independence team, Directorate Matron, School Nurses and Health Visitors.

We spoke with two people using the service. One person told us they were very satisfied with the care they had received on the day of our visit. They also told us, the health information provided to them prior to and following their appointment was clear and concise. The nurse providing their care and treatment had been, excellent. They were treated with courtesy, respect and told us they felt a lot better and reassured following their appointment. Another person told us they had accessed health visiting services. They told us the health visitors are really good and really helpful.

We saw people using the services were greeted at the centre appropriately and they were provided with clear information about their appointment. We saw from all of the care records we looked at. People were actively involved and consulted about their care and treatment options and they had provided consent to their care and treatment.

We found peoples needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan.

Peoples health, safety and welfare was protected when more than one provider was involved in their care and treatment, or when they moved between different services. This was because the provider worked in co-operation with others.

Peoples personal records including medical records were accurate and fit for purpose.
