During a routine inspection

During our inspection we visited Greenwood and Hazelwood ward. The majority of people we spoke with were happy with the care and support they received from the service. Some people were very positive and told us there are plenty of activities on the ward and the nurses are helpful. Another person said 'the staff were very friendly and supported them'. For example a person told us when they first came to the ward it was very difficult. They said there were various doctors at the time but now there are new staff and a 'great' consultant. They said that 'the unit is much cleaner now and they have good relationships, particularly with their primary nurse'. They used to feel unsafe but now they feel safe on the ward.

However, one person said that there was a lack of privacy when they made phone calls as it was in the communal area and it was sometimes noisy.

There was evidence that people were involved in their care planning and risk assessments had been undertaken. People received care that met their needs and people had access to information about the mental health act and advocacy service. Staff were trained and supported to deliver appropriate care and the provider had systems in place to ensure the quality of the service was monitored.
