During a routine inspection

We spoke with four of the twenty two people using the services of Dermott Murphy Centre at the time of our visit. They told us that they were respected by staff and were being cared for and supported properly. We also spoke with five regular visitors to the Centre. They told us that they had observed staff to treat people respectfully and preserve their privacy and dignity. Comments made by the people we spoke with included;

'It was a big decision to come here. But it was a good choice. At the end of the day it was my choice and it is the right place for me.'

'I have been treated well at all times. The staff are very polite and kind. They chat to you when they are helping you and I feel very comfortable with them.'

'I visit here on a regular basis at different times of the day. I think the care the staff provide here is excellent and they are really very good about keeping you informed about any changes."

'I feel that I am looked after really well. I am comfortable and the staff make sure they do the things for me that I can't do for myself anymore.'

We found that people's care and welfare needs were being appropriately met and they were being cared for in a suitable environment by adequate numbers of appropriately trained staff. Suitable systems were in place to keep people safe and deal with complaints.
