Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 27 January 2026 to 3 February 2026. St George’s Hospital (Tooting) provides a range of NHS hospital services. This assessment looked at urgent and emergency services. This was a focused assessment of safe and well-led to follow up on concerns we identified during our visit in November 2024. As a result of these concerns, we issued a warning notice in February 2025. This was because the trust was failing to comply with requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
We found that the service had made improvements and identified no continuing breaches of regulation. We rated the service as requires improvement. The rating for urgent and emergency services has been combined with ratings from other services inspected previously. Please refer to our earlier reports for a full overview of all other services at St George’s Hospital (Tooting). The overall rating for St George’s Hospital (Tooting) remains requires improvement.
In our assessment of urgent and emergency services we found that improvements had been made in safe systems of care, in ensuring that medicines and treatments were mostly safe and met people’s needs, and in the protection of people’s sensitive information. However, not all improvements had yet been fully embedded in practice.
