Our view of the service
We carried out a focused unannounced assessment of Urgent and Emergency services on 3 March 2026 to assess the improvements the trust had made. The assessment focused on a number of quality statements under the Safe, Caring, Responsive, and Well Led domains. We rated the service as requires improvement.
The service was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to privacy and dignity. We found that the service had put in mitigations to improve patient safety, however, the service remained in breach of this regulation.
People's experience of this service
Patients we spoke with were positive about the care they had received from staff. Patients told us staff treated them with warmth and kindness. However, the department was very crowded, which impacted on privacy and dignity.
