During a routine inspection

In total we spoke with 16 patients including seven people on the ward, five people in the outpatients department and four people in the minor injuries unit. People told us that they were always treated properly they said 'The staff are very courteous', 'They are always very kind and thoughtful' and 'They are very respectful of my privacy and treat me the way I like to be treated'.

People said that staff were very good at communicating with them both in terms of their treatment and if there were any delays in minor injuries or outpatient clinics. A patient's family member told us that 'We are kept well informed about our relative's treatment and what the doctor has said'.

Everyone we spoke with felt they were receiving good standards of care and treatment. One person seen in the minor injuries unit said 'My consultation was excellent and I felt I was in good hands'. A number of people had brought their young children in with minor injuries. One mother said 'I have come into minor injuries on several occasions and the nurses are very good with children, they are kind and reassuring'.

A person in outpatients said 'I have been here before and today is one of the busiest days I have seen. But it is always calm and flows smoothly'.

People on the ward said 'It's perfect, I can't fault it from the domestic staff all the way up' and 'Staff are all very good. They are always checking on me to see I am alright'. We were told 'You never have to wait long for staff. The drugs come round on time and they are attentive to pain levels and pain relief'.

People were happy with the meals provided they said 'The food is terrific, always looks good, always hot and there is a great choice', 'We get more than enough to eat, often there's too much' and 'On the whole the food is very good'.
