Our overall rating of safe at Musgrove Park Hospital has stayed the same as rated as requires improvement.

Maternity was rated as requires improvement. This has improved since our last inspection as rated as inadequate.

Incident reporting was not always completed and there was a risk serious incidents were not investigated in a timely way to improve safety and care. Women at times experienced long waits for care and treatment. Some medical staff lacked the appropriate safeguarding training placing women and their babies at risk of abuse and the maternity unit did not have pharmacy support for safe medicines management.
