During a routine inspection

People we spoke with gave us a range of views regarding their experiences of the services being provided. People told us that the way staff treated people was very good and that the services provided from the child development centre (CDC) were also very good. We were told 'there is equipment here and the people are all very supportive'. We were also told 'any dealings we have in here (at the CDC) are fine. People provide a friendly service, it's very good'. However, we were also told there were delays in receiving follow up appointments, that there was a lack of coordinated care and a delay in receiving equipment that had been assessed and ordered by the occupational therapy service.

We found that there were suitable arrangements in place for obtaining and acting on consent. People were being assessed and care was planned in a way that reflected their individual needs although this was not always delivered effectively. Staffing issues had affected aspects of the effectiveness of service delivery.

We found a number of issues with the premises at the CDC, which had not been suitably maintained. There were suitable checks taking place on the quality of the service and issues found were being acted upon.
