During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak with any patients who had used the service as there were none available at the time of our visit. However, we reviewed feedback given by patients about the transport service. Comments showed that patients were very happy with the service they received. Staff had undertaken appropriate training and were supported to provide a safe service.

Equipment used by the service was properly maintained and suitable for its use. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Accurate records were kept by the service and these were stored securely.

During a routine inspection

We did not speak directly to people who used the patient transport service when carrying out this review. However, a report of a recently completed patient and service user satisfaction survey showed that 100% of people rated the patient transport service as 'good' or 'very good'. Drivers were described as always 'courteous' and 'helpful'. The majority of people reported that the service was punctual and that they received enough information about the service. Typical comments from people who used the service included: 'extremely pleasant driver, very cheerful and polite' and 'the service is excellent'. People who had been transported in the service's vehicles considered them to be 'clean and tidy' and the majority thought the vehicle provided was 'adequate'. The provider worked with other providers to ensure that patients were transported safely and had systems in place to monitor the quality of service provided.
