Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 20 March 2025

Date of Assessment: 29 May 2025. The service is a residential care service providing support to older people living with dementia. At the time of this assessment there were 16 people at the service. This assessment was to follow up on 3 previous breaches of regulation found at the last inspection. We found improvements had been made and there were no longer breaches of regulation.

People were receiving a personalised service from staff who knew them well and were familiar with their needs and preferences. People’s privacy and dignity were respected. Staff supported people to make decisions and took account of their capacity and ability to consent. Management systems were robust and supported the improvements we found. Accidents and incidents were analysed, and risks were reviewed to improve people’s health, safety and welfare. There was a learning culture that supported continuous improvement. Where changes had been made, the provider had systems in place to ensure good practice was embedded and sustained.

Staff were well supported and had received the training they needed to be effective in their roles.

People's experience of the service

Updated 20 March 2025

People and their relatives spoke highly of the service and described the staff as kind and caring. People were supported by staff who knew them well and they had developed positive relationships with them. All the people and relatives we spoke with were positive about their experience of the service. One relative told us, “It feels like it is her home not an institution. We’re really happy with the home.”

Staff had received the training and support they needed and there were enough staff to provide effective care. Staff were skilled in supporting people with dementia. We observed how staff were able to spend time being with people, engaging them in conversations and a variety of activities. A relative told us, “There always seems to be enough staff, I go at all times, evenings and weekends, they are all well-trained.”

People appeared relaxed in the company of staff and looked happy. There was a calm but busy atmosphere at the service. A relative told us, “They are happy living there, so we are happy, it is an amazing home, they do a really good job.”
