Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who were most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.

We spoke to people about their experience of care, and they did not report any barriers related to discrimination. The registered manager told us that they provided support to a person with a mild learning disability who had a VIP Care Profile, which was individual to them, transportable and documented their health and well-being needs and preferences. This enabled the person to be supported in a way they chose, both at home and in the community. The person’s care plan also clearly identified their communication needs and the way staff should provide care, to ensure their health and well-being were being fully supported.

Staff received equality and diversity training. This helped staff to understand and value difference.

Care plans clearly documented involvement with other health professionals and the outcomes of their interactions.
