Our view of the service
We carried out this inspection from 2 December 2025 to 11 December 2025. The service is a residential care home providing support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. There were 6 people living in the home at the time of our inspection. We inspected 11 quality statements.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to good governance. We inspected to see if improvements had been made. Improvements were found at this inspection, and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation. Improvements included involving people to manage risk, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), medicines management and governance processes which were now effective in monitoring and improving the service.
The provider was highly motivated to maintain a high level of care to people. People were protected and kept safe.People’s health conditions and associated risks were assessed and managed safely. Medicines were stored, documented and administered safely. People’s needs were assessed and reviewed. People were supported by staff who treated them with kindness and respected their dignity. Staff ensured people’s care and support met individual needs and preferences. A dedicated management team led the service. Staff were able to raise concerns and told us managers were approachable and supportive.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people received care and support in accordance with the principles of this guidance.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with some relatives and used observation to assess whether people received good care. We found people could benefit from being involved in more meaningful activities both inside and outside the home. However, the provider shared with us what they had put in place to improve activities, which included meetings with people to discuss what activities they would like to undertake, some of these activities had begun to take place.
Relatives we spoke with told us of the significant improvements they had seen since the current manager had been in post. One relative told us, “The new manager and deputy manager are very contactable and approachable and keep us well informed. On the whole we as a family are very pleased with the big improvement at Stubbington Lane. We are comfortable with management and the staff and feel and see they are doing a very goodjob. We feel comfortable they are delivering a great service once again.” Another relative told us, “Since the new manager has taken over, we feel as parents a lot of the stress and worry has been taken away from us and our relative is much happier, the home is more homely and nice to visit.”
